Fiberglass Windows
Replacement fiberglass windows are stronger and more energy efficient than other types of windows, and here's why.
Fiberglass is the best window framing material known to man. It's a natural insulator because it doesn't conduct heat or cold, and it doesn't expand or contract making it the most stable window framing material in existence today.
The majority of window and door frame components are comprised of multiple materials: glass on wood, glass on aluminum or glass on vinyl. These materials expand and contract at different rates and as a result the overall integrity of the window breaks down.
Fiberglass and glass are developed from the same base materials. Because of the similarity in structure between glass and fiberglass there is minimal expansion and contraction. And if there is any minimal expansion or contraction, both materials expand at the same rate ensuring the integrity of your window.
That's the Majic Advantage!
Fiberglass Facts:
STRENGTH
A fiberglass window delivers vastly superior strength characteristics when compared to other windows like vinyl replacement windows. Fiberglass windows provide 8 times greater sheer strength when compared to vinyl replacement windows. Vinyl is a form of plastic. Think of an old vinyl record... not very strong! Fiberglass on the other hand is used to make boats and even bridges! Fiberglass is the strongest window framing material available today. Because of this strength, fiberglass windows are incredibly energy efficient.
LOW MAINTENANCE
Fiberglass is an extremely stable material. This provides an ideal base for a full range of finishes. Because fiberglass is so stable it can withstand 100 degree Michigan summer days and the below zero temperatures that Michigan winters bring. Vinyl replacement windows do not hold up to Michigan weather. Because they are made from plastic, they expand and contract, causing seal failure, warping, and the overall breakdown of the window. That's not low maintenance or energy efficient.
CONDUCTIVITY
Fiberglass windows combine strength with very low levels of conductivity, without adding thermal breaks. Fiberglass is an amazing 500 times less conductive than aluminum and Fiberglass window frames and are also less conductive than vinyl due to reduced mass.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Fiberglass windows feature the lowest embodied energy (low energy consumption in lineal production) when compared to other common window frame materials and they also provide the longest life expectancy. This has led experts to recognize fiberglass windows as the most environmentally friendly window framing material. Replacement fiberglass windows are also energy efficient, keeping heat inside during the winter, and cool air inside during the summer. Also, because replacement fiberglass windows are not drafty, you will be able to help lower your heating and cooling bills.
NON-CORRODING
Fiberglass material is used in boats and bridge structures which face punishing loads and stresses as well as corrosive materials such as salt water. Fiberglass replacement windows are significantly more durable than vinyl replacement windows and aluminum replacement windows. The bottom line is that fiberglass windows will outlast vinyl replacement windows and aluminum replacement windows. A fiberglass window will be the last window you will ever have to buy.
